Absent Blogger - Blame it on Lara Croft

So... This is the second week that I’ve been rather absent from my blog. It’s not ideal. I start to get a little antsy when I don’t have time to purge myself here, to dump my thoughts all over the place and empty my head before the real work of the day begins, but there it is. Sometimes, life is like that.

The past couple of weeks, I’ve been chasing a deadline, and all writers know what that can be like.

On the other hand, I’ve been having a blast, and, honestly, there hasn’t been a whole lot of room in my head for anything but the book I’ve been frantically scribbling away at.

In the past couple of days, the project I’ve been working on has been announced, so I can also talk about it.

The husband and I just completed, and by ‘just’ I mean I sent the final draft off to the publisher literally five minutes ago... We just completed our second collaborative novel of the year.

Yes... We work A LOT.

This was a fun project. It was a lot of work, but I really enjoyed this one. It played to my strengths.

Announcing Tomb Raider:
The Ten Thousand Immortals
One of the things I studied at university besides English, was History, and this novel had a lot of archaeology in it, and a lot of stuff about myths and legends. There was just a touch of magic in there, and some fab locations to research, too.

I love a bit of action and adventure, and I can’t help getting involved with big characters, and this novel is full of that stuff. I also studied Fine Art, and there’s a smattering of that here on top of everything else, just for good measure.

This was right up my alley.

Tomb Raider: The Ten Thousand Immortals is out in October from DK.

Fiefdom is an animal of a very different stripe, and it’s a pleasure to have such variety in our work. It’s a spare, tough, uncompromising novel about a society that has to unite under a deadly threat. It’s set in a mini-Ice Age around a tribe of genetically modified soldiers bred from dogs.

This book couldn’t have been more different from the other. They were both demanding in their ways, but the writing processes for them were utterly different.

So, two novels due out over the next few months.

Fiefdom is out on July 8th from Abaddon Books

  1. Nice point of view :) It's good to know, how exactly author does live, works - and, well, that he is not a robot.

    As i understood - that's the third book by Dan (and second for you), that has been written this year:
    Tomb Raider: The Ten Thousand Immortals;
    Fiefdom;
    Groot and Rocket Raccoon novel (movie prequel).

    I hope, that this year, you will make Black Library fans happy too. (You have a big fan family at BL, you know that).
    With Gaunt Ghosts probably, it seems that's the closest release. As i know, next HH is planned, no sooner than 2015.

    Thanks for the great blog, as usual - you deliver :).
